In Gura's case, it seems like her primary problem was not being able to make friends in the first place. Only being friends with people as long as you're useful to each other sucks, but it isn't lonely like Gura always puts out there. I could see her relating to the part about your better friends being the ones you don't get too close to though. In a "I don't interact with them much, but at least I'm not scaring them off" kinda of way.
