That security committee thing earlier today was fuckin scary. Right from the get-go China was very explicitly named and for the next 3 hours it was the absolute top subject of each and every speaker. There was no hesitation to explicitly mention outright warfare with China, something that has not really been okay to say outright at all up until now. Some of the congresspeople 'grilling' the security experts were sounding even more aggressive and belligerent in their words than the fucking CIA itself.

But what scared me the most was the persistent reference to 'american citizens' having to learn to 'make sacrifices for and come to accept the realities of what is necessary right now to protect national security ' (im paraphrasing but it was quite similar). Thats an EXTREMELY fucked up thing to say and the implications seem somewhat unprecedented in the modern day for western countries to make. We are walking off a dark cliff here and i have no fucking idea whats coming next
