It's more like they wouldn't be able to climb small trees without hurting the trees! You need to be pretty big to be able to carry humans continuously. Big lions are around 400 pounds, while the lighter horses that humans can ride are around 800 pounds. So these will be big cougars, if they're of similar size. Visually, I guess they might look a bit like picrelated, maybe a bit greyer instead of white? And much larger. Since they're big and hunt in groups, they'll probably hunt large prey in their natural environment...
