Otsonny!! BoTW was certainly an adventure, it's a good thing he was up bright and early for it. Nearly a 12 hour stream...! What's almost more impressive than that is that his joycons lasted the whole way through. It was a great time though! He made a good bit of progress on the main story, at least he's been staying more on-track than I thought he would. We left off in kakariko village and at last met impa before furthering the main objective, then we were sent out into the world. Sonny's already really fond of how densely-packed the world is, and the combat too. The durability system hasn't been bothering him too much yet and he's not one to step down from a challenge, taking on monster camps while obviously undergeared and going after the minibosses he'd come across (the exception to this is the non-amputee guardians, he's not quite ready for those yet). I really appreciated staring at the ass of a hinox for 10min while he bashed one to death because he didn't feel like shooting it in the eye. He also made it to hateno village pretty quickly after that, maybe it shouldn't surprise me but it would have been pretty easy to pick a different tower and go fuck off in a totally different area of the map to delay the discovery. The little ghibli-esque town had quite a bit to offer though, not all of which he could take advantage of yet— he did however make sure to sexually harass the innkeeper by flashing her and get the camera rune from purah's lab (of course he noticed she's wearing a randoseru). Plenty of shenanigans on the way to Zora's domain; he met one of the great fairies which uhh... he at least liked this one better than OoT, but he also finally tamed his first horse, ordered a very tasty-sounding burger, cheesed some shrines, killed wizzrobes and got very childishly excited over the rods they dropped... sooner or later though he did meet the one and only sidon (at the insistence of like four different zoras scattered around the area). Sonny thinks his sister is cute, but unfortunately does not seem to reciprocate the princess's feelings, though he enjoyed pointing out age gaps. ...He was in some kind of mood today, I'm not sure what his deal is. I posted about this earlier but the questline is quite a bit shorter than I remember, sonny pretty much made it a straight shot from agreeing to help out the king to heading out to the divine beast. Well... kind of. Theoretically, anyway. That first encounter with a lynel that he decided to kill even if he didn't need to was really something else. Showing up with a handful of dishes (none of which gave extra hearts), like two weapons that did decent damage, and zero knowledge of using stasis on enemies, that hour-long duel was both incredible and painful. He got a LOT of practice in for perfect dodges and parries, I can tell you that much. I should have been keeping track of deaths. At last though, with the help of some good RNG, he managed to mount the lynel without getting raped and managed to take it down. I nearly wept, that felt like a bigger victory than beating waterblight ganon. He then got the shock arrows and boarded the SS Sidon to go save that elephant. The dungeon was pretty standard stuff, vah ruta isn't my favorite but it was fun watching him put his thinking cap on for some of the puzzles. Somehow, after all that, waterblight ganon was an absolute cakewalk compared to the beast he had slain just before. I really don't understand him sometimes. With this corner of hyrule saved and the zoras' xenophobia cured, he spent the last bit of the day cooking up a storm before ending stream very shortly before the 12hr mark. Whew. I love you too sonny. It's kind of amazing how fast the hours have melted away when he plays botw; he enjoys a lot of different games but you can tell when he really gets sucked into something... although I'm sure the colder weather definitely gives a boost in streaming stamina. I really look forward to seeing him continue it! Is he gonna keep grinding out the story, or dilly dally a bit more? There's still a LOT of unexplored terrain in the zoras territory, plenty of shrines to knock out. Whether he's slaughtering wildlife, collecting crabs, or fighting with puzzles, I'll have fun watching, I love watching him age regress. It'll be hilarious if he really does fit in a gorilla before sunday. WB fuuchan and thanks for a fun stream taichou, almost 12 hours of Zelda impeded only by the human need for sleep is pretty dang impressive... I feel blessed to spend that much of my day with you. Sleep well and see you soon! o7
(Also I did catch the upturned yesterday, I enjoyed the stream but I was nodding off and on throughout because I was so inexplicably sleepy. I might rewatch some of the vod and talk about it in tonight's post instead. Fuck you Patricia!)
