There's nothing wrong with being uncomfortable. Just accept it.

>That's difficult, and desu I feel like it'll rip you right out of the dream too.
It's excitement out of the dream, when awake. If you're not excited and interested in lucid dreaming, you will most likely not actually reach lucidity in your dreams, or it will take months and months of work for one random lucid dream that doesn't repeat. I can personally attest to that. Excitement is THE most valuable thing you can have when it comes to lucid dreams. With excitement, you might have a lucid dream the next time you sleep.
>"How did I get here"
That question doesn't work fool-proof in dreams either, because you can easily just ignore it, or your dream might seem sensible on that part. Actual superior reality checks will involve something that is completely 100% wrong and inconsistent.
>looking at your hands and fingers, seeing that they are mutilated and wrong, wrong number of fingers or they're misshapen
>looking at a clock, away from it, and seeing the time change
>reading a text, looking away, and seeing the text change
Stuff like this is superior, but over time will have your brain adapt and maintain them if you're not careful. For example, I can no longer use my fingers as a reality check, because my brain has learned to "draw" them with enough accuracy for my sleep-self to not recognize them as wrong.

Keep it in mind. It 100% works. I've never opened my eyes in my sleep paralysis episodes, so I've never been spooked. Just wiggled my toes and poof, I've regained control of my body.
