I'd like to remind that Global Chat was initially implemented as a way for mutual funds/companies to be possible without having to rely on seemingly closed external chats like the Aggie (which wasn't suited for such function). It makes sense in that context - you can advertise your company easily and together with DMs recruit people who'd wish to stay anonymous rather than revealing their names.
