EN will forever be a side branch, want to know why? Because their business influence is minuscule compared to JP.
Just look at the wave of sponsorships for ENs from brands compared to JPs. Most of the sponsorships for EN are pretty much game/anime focus with the only exception is Gura's Taco Bell. Any companies that aren't located in Japan don't want to get anime girls as their brand ambassadors and majorities JP companies don't give a shit about EN because none of their customers watch holo. Xbox only responds to Gura's tweet because their media guy is a weeb.
Just look at pic-related. Gura and Mori, 2 biggest EN got a promo for Scarlet Nexus, a dead game for Xbox, meanwhile, JP got racing sponsorships, national baseball league, Yamaha instruments, interviewing Hollywood stars, fucking Square Enix, Nissin, card games, gacha games, supermarket promotions every two months or so.
On a pure business sense, EN doesn't even bring that much money on the SC side compared to JP, much less the brand images and promotions, and sponsorships.
Why bother wasting money on something that doesn't bring profit while the branch is perfectly sustainable on its own.
