Each season has 4 cards. Match your card in your hand to one on the board and you get to take both. One card flips every turn and if it matches, you get to take those 2 cards too. You get points from getting full months, and extra points from getting sets like all of the animals, the rainy banners, the windy banners, the 'kings' and a few others.
