Godot and building maps with Qodot/Trenchbroom, I considered using the player movement code I have and adding shooting mechanics + marketable mascots (like Max or the Demonites) and making a horde mode survival shooter for the funni but I don't want to deal with copyright issues

No but I'm using a quake level editor for map design, I learned how to do curves last week so things are less blocky
