TL;DR This is a wall of text that you don't need to fully read. I'm just listing the downsides to finding a chuuba you like years after she started, especially in a corpo like Hololive. I don't care about what indie you want to shill to me, they will have their own problems. I am just venting my sadness here.

When you get into a chuuba that has an established fanbase with multiple years of vtubing under her belt, it is impossible to ever feel like you can ever be her fan. You weren't there for her debut. You weren't there for her formative months. You weren't there to witness her personality and shtick solidify. You weren't there to witness the fanbase develop a name for itself. You weren't there for the early memes. You missed every yab. You will not know any in-jokes and references. Every post you make, you have the risk of making yourself sound stupid because you didn't know of something she did some months ago. You will be mocked for saying something innocent, but something a longtime fan would know. Your membership length will always be shorter than everybody else's. The most dedicated fans will always trump you. It does not matter what you do or how much support you give, you came in late. There is no possible way to catch up with a fraction of the things she's done. She will be far enough along in her career that she will not recognize you, or if she does, you play second fiddle to her oldest fans. Your image folder will only include recent images. For months, you will be stuck with a tiny folder while everybody else has a gigantic folder with tons of subfolders of every cute image, every soundpost, every fan meme, etc. The archives are pages upon pages of fun times people spent posting with each other. You came in when the magic already died for most fans, so they won't share the same hype as you. Every post you make needs to be carefully vetted lest you make a fool out of yourself as a newfag and need to close the thread out of embarrassment. It's not just /vt/ that you will be a newfag around, but to the chuuba herself. Every superchat you send needs to be looked at with great scrutiny or else you could out yourself as being a clueless, non-fan. While she will say nothing about it, you know she will look down on you for it. To catch up to even your average fan in a general, you need to catch up on years worth of streams, current stuff, unarchived stuff you need to dig the archives for, read tons of threads to even get an inkling of all the general's quirks, and various other things. You will never own all of her merch. Most of her merch is out of print or sold on some bootleg site. Limited time items will be difficult or impossible to find. You missed the golden age of this chuuba most likely. Every old stream that is supposed to be a "classic", will never be like it was when it came out. You can't post in chat. You will not have the context of the stream at the time, so you will miss things. God forbid you found out you like this chuuba when she went on break, hiatus, or graduated. You literally came at the worst possible time. Do you have any idea how many fun memories you missed? You missed more than you'll ever get out of her now. You will never feel like you "get" her as much as older fans do. You will always have that creeping suspicion that you are missing things. You probably will always look like a newfag or you will always need to be extra careful with what you post to make sure it's vague enough that nobody can call you out on your lack of knowledge. You will not know all of the Tweets she has made. You missed out on tons upon tons of fan communications via Twitter which could have been neat. What if she collabed with somebody on their channel and not on hers? You probably won't ever know. You missed it. How about all of those ASMRs you missed? Are they really going to feel as good when its not live? If you give a shit about PL stuff or forbidden knowledge, everybody else around you knows more about it than you. Even if you're like me and don't care about that crap, you'll always need to be careful about snide anons feeling like that have a gotcha when they respond to your post with that stuff. You missed out on the equivalent of Detective Conan or Sazae-san, which are two anime/manga franchises with over a thousand episodes and are still ongoing. But unlike those, these are multiple hour streams multiple times a week, sometimes daily, plus music videos, concerts, and other supplemental material like the memes and posts about her. You will never catch up. And if you're like me, you'll make a thread about it, but nobody will respond. This will probably get like 10 responses and die. All of the time I wasted typing this is exactly like the time you're wasting trying to catch up. It's pointless. You missed the train. You better hope someone else exactly like her comes out later, and you better not be late this time. Why did I have to find out that I like her years after she debuted? FUCK.

If I get banned for discussing something Shiori talked about while mentioning her talking about it in every post, that is very unfair. It was on topic. Why am I not allowed to talk about what she mentions on stream while specifically discussing how she said it and how it can affect her? It's like when I got banned for racism for talking about her bug eating when she LITERALLY was talking about it on stream, and I never mentioned race. You're just deleting posts critical of her.
