I'm not a phantomo, I don't really identify with any one base, but it's like this.
Maria gets 5k on story of seasons where she often fills the stream with random humming and noises because she's not great at reading chat and filling dead air
Reimu doesn't get 1k on silent hill despite engaging with chat and having next to no dead air.

A design carries you very far. Check out ShyLily on twitch or even half of vhsojo. Nyanners was a 3 view Pngtuber and occasional fleshtuber, she commissioned a pink cat avatar and shot up to being one of the most popular vtubers on twitch.
