While people often consider Hololive fans touting this fact as "tribalists" or "elitists", the fact remains that if not for Hololive, vtubing would not have the global recognition it has now.
Let's examine what "paving the way" means in this context.
Normal, popular YouTubers like Cr1tikal and Trash Taste are not clamoring to collab with vtuber groups like AniMare or Nijisanji. While the members in these groups are undoubtedly talented, it is ONLY Hololive that has been able to achieve massive, mainstream popularity not just as vtubers, but as YOUTUBERS in general.
They are able to stand among the giants not just of vtubing, but YouTubing as a whole.
They have paved the way for vtubers to be recognized not just as vtubers, but as talents bigger than vtubing itself.
Some people might cry "but anon, Hololive would be nothing without Eilene or Kizuna Ai establishing vtubers as they are today! It was them who paved the way!".
While they have paved the way for vtubing to be as big an industry as we know it today, the fact remains that they only paved the way for the vtubers of today to be recognized as VTUBERS.
It is HOLOLIVE and Hololive alone that has led to the massive vtubing renaissance as we see it today, and Hololive that made vtubers able to be recognized not just as a foreign niche, but the YOUTUBERS they actually are.
