A lot of vtubers already have very dead chats despite being in the 500 viewer range for this reason, and this worsen considerably during collabs.
This is not a metric that large vtubers would care about for the most part since you still can have a large audience without any interaction at all but it is still interesitng.

Honestly, this is the safest route. If you don't want people going full $30.000k on you just disable streamlabs and just leave the subs active.
Not taking donations if you don't need them actually makes the experience better for all viewers because they don't feel they have to donate to get the streamers attention.
Takodachis for example know the only way to get Ina's is to make art for her because she doesn't even reads superchats and thus she has birthed a legion of artists.
Chuubas must think carefully about which behaviors will they reward because those are the behaviors they will see. In the end all chuubas get the chat they build.
