Smiling Friends was picked up because it was unironically just a bunch of newgrounds guys who never grew out of newgrounds humor and everyone found Smiling Friends to be refereshing because of it. People like zachs dumbass humor for a reason, just like people watch Oneyplays for a reason. It's the most obvious tale of how old shit works when you lean into it and don't try to move on.

Oneyplays played it today because Chris has been a massive Harry Potter fan his whole live and you'd know it watch him because they joke about Harry Potter all the time and old OneyNG animations show it as well, and despite Chris and Oneyplays being a bunch of edgy jokes and shitposting, the dude is very non judgemental and supported lots of people of all types over the years. Over half the original hosts of his show were gay, and a furry. And he's had a trans girl help with the show for years. However none of the people with that group seem like the type you'd see support any online LGBTQ+ whatever movement. They're just friendly to each other and don't bother with the politics. Even when Ding Dong and Julian were the hosts with him Ding Dong used to make fun of the the whole "movement" because he thought it was fucking stupid despite being gay himself.
My point in all this is, you can support everyone for who they are, and you can be anything you want to be, and not get sucked into some wacky online cult that does more harm than good.
