Oh trust me, anon. These guys are high already regardless. You could say that it's harm reduction and high-sitting, most of these guys are alone and have serious PTSD. It's proven more effective to address the underlying reasons that push us to use, when you're really in it you know to just not say anything by default. I remind them "Keep staying strong" and "You don't need to be high to have a good time" etc, and when they or my family remind me it makes me hurt more than I can escape from. Most are lonely and survival-mode to the point of being unable to let themselves cry or love. And we all care about each other more than ourselves, which is a problem in its own.
