Do not worry about it that much, since you are correct in most cases due to the reason mentioned in >>39921691. The fantastic nature of this setting means there are other possible ways for a lake to be drained without leaving the salt behind, though, either through some kind of magical transportation or some form of underground rivers.

To be honest, I have long since stopped bothering with that since making a consistent climate map that everyone is satisfied with is a fool's errand. If I am completely honest part of me regrets making the global climate map in the first place since it has only brought confusion and frustration to others and suffering to me, and I don't see either option in >>38854710 improving that.

I don't know, since I don't think we ever decide on whether we should assume the planet still has the same perimeter as Earth with the new latitude or if we tweak the perimeter so that the old climate overview still applies.

That said I thought the plan's to keep the current climate map as-is as much as possible, and justify it by tweaking the planet's condition...

>so that we could start writing lore with a location in mind
While it is more or less true, I would say it was more useful back then due to all the zoning timeloops preventing us from starting to write. Nowadays, I would say it is more trouble than it's worth as we have existing lore to work upon.
Personally, my main issue (admittedly a personal one that probably doesn't have much impact on others) is that not all writers are necessarily satisfied with their current position, and the results are similarly unsatisfying:
>They go with their assigned location despite the dissatisfaction. I know some writers actually make good use of that (/rose/ being the most prominent example), but I don't think that should be a justification in favour of this system.
>The ask for a repositioning, which is basically the same for countries not on the map. Considering that the placement of ID3 and /mans/ is what sparked the discussion for the province system, it should be clear that this is far from being satisfying either.
>They change the details of the assigned location to suit their needs. While this satisfied the writers' need to make the countries the way they wish without causing issues that tend to arise in repositioning, it often has the unintended (?) side effect of having to justify changes in climates and biomes that will result in rather patchworked environment for the planet, and is something that bothers me (maybe more than it should, but well).
At least for me, the potential for resolving this issue alone is enough for me to support the proposal even if it's not perfect, or may not be much of an improvement for others.

Please consider using the meme & meta category when archiving relevant posts. I don't think /vtwbg/ is supposed to be a replacement for that despite its nature.

Sorry for the lack of reply. Truth be told, I had been doing my reps since you first asked it, but I admit the subject's not something I know much about. What I can tell you is that the /rrat/ highlands are formed by collisional orogeny due to the two continental plate crashing against each other. Since subduction is rare due to the plates having similar density, the highland is both tall and widespread. It's also probably a hot orogeny like the Himalayas due to its height implying the orogeny has been going on for a while (compared with the Alps for example), which has different implications, but chief among which being that magmatism would be (relatively) more common as the subducted plate is starting to melt, thus creating porphyry copper deposit. I don't know its implications on iron ore quality or even availability, though, so I can't really help you with it. Sorry.
Geologically, a good chunk of /who/ would be a retroarc foreland basin (since the top of the /rrat/ highland belongs to the same plate), where the fold has since been filled up with sediments coming from the eroding highland and/or evaporation of water being trapped in the lowland.

I should add that I'm not saying we should force mepper to change /mep/'s climate back, or me criticising how /mep/'s climate comes to be. It's ultimately his thread so it's his decision.
Ngl stuff like this is another reason I lean towards the province map claim idea. That way if they really want a specific climate, they can just put their countries in said climate without having to jury-rig it afterwards.
