God I wish they'd go anywhere outside of California. That's a nine hour flight for me, I love the boys but good god. I hope Vox is feeling up for it, too...

... It's going to be considerable effort on my part, but I am considering writing a (counts) ten-person bdsm orgy just to spite you for shitting up the thread.

Yeah, adding onto this, I think genuinely the best thing you can do to figure out what they're doing and why it works is, sincerely and from the bottom of my heart, watch their content and engage with their communities. "I'm new to vtubers, what drew you to this one? I think he's interesting!" will go a long way to opening up a dialogue. Is the vtuber doing something that makes you cringe, makes you uncomfortable, makes you embarrassed? That's fair, but it's very likely that willingness to go the extra mile is what sets them apart. Vox literally fucks his viewers a few times a month, and he does it well (seriously, record yourself kissing into the microphone, it's surprisingly hard to make that sound like anything other than cronching into a head of iceberg lettuce.) You don't have to be Vox to appeal to fujin and yumes, because relatively safe-for-work people like Shu have a host of dedicated fans (including me.) But you do have to put in the effort to do whatever you do /well/, because especially these days, porntubers are a dime a dozen and a cool model only gets people in the door. It's what's about the person behind the screen that makes anyone stick around, and you can't develop that quickly or irreverently. It sounds obvious to say "the reason why they're successful is that they're working hard," but, well... that's certainly a large part of it. Working hard, working /smart/, and being passionate about that work will take you farther than any analytic research ever will.

There's a clip where Vox asked him to say sussy three times in an amogus vr collab, and the way he said "ye?" was so cute it gave me chest pains. Sometimes a boy is just precious.
