No shit 4chan's inherent contrarian streak is part of it, but that isn't the only reason. If that were the only reason the reaction wouldn't be so autistic generally. I've never seen anyone on this site bring up e-celebs to worship them. Proper celebs yes, but it's mostly just the occasional 'oh hey I like such and such's content'. Most of the times when someone starts to dramawhore they're run off quickly unless it's a dogshit board like /v/.
