I really enjoyed Sonny and Selen's Apex collab today! I hope the rest of you did, too.
I've been looking forward to this collab pretty much since Selen mentioned it two weeks ago. Initially, I was a bit worried about it because Sonny was incredibly quiet - and honestly, awful at the game - during his collab with Reimu, but it looks like he did what I hoped he'd do and played a bit off-stream. Even though he was still pretty quiet during this collab - and still pretty shit - he was able to speak up more and actually contribute to fights since he wasn't entirely focused on basic things like what items did and how to position his ult. It sounds like he genuinely wants to get better at the game since he mentioned grinding to Gold in the future and wanting to play Apex with Selen again, so I hope we can revisit this Apex collab in the future and see how he's improved.
Playing with Selen went pretty much as I expected, honestly. I didn't really think she was going to bully him; from my experience watching her other Apex collabs, she only really does that with people she knows will respond well to banter and I'm not sure if Sonny knows or wants to banter back. I noticed Selen kept giving him 'content' opportunities and he took a few of them (like becoming her ikebo voice hype man) but ignored or missed the others. It started off well, but I definitely felt like Selen was carrying the conversation hard by the end. I do think they were a really fun duo, though; Sonny seemed a lot more comfortable here than in his other collabs, and Selen's pretty good at pressing him for conversation. It was actually funny as hell also hearing him take the conversational initiative and offer Selen some of his negi, even though it makes no sense to anyone not familiar with his stream and Selen genuinely thought he was offering her weed or something. Pure what-the-fuck autism, but it turned out to be pretty cute situational humor with him making her character model hold the negi, and I like that he actually was pro-active about saying that instead of letting Selen dictate the conversation.
Was also surprised to learn he was apparently a Masters Overwatch player in the past, and a definitely-absolutely-totally not toxic Genji/Doomfist main. Also was pleasantly surprised to hear he and Bobon have been playing off-stream; that's a collab I definitely want to see in the future.

Thanks for listening to my TED talk. I'm always very positive about Sonny's streams, but I'm also fully aware he has a long way to go as a streamer and I try to stay objective. It's fun watching the journey, too.
