I finally read up on the Blood Ravens lore a bit. My impression was always that it was a kind of hamfisted bullshit chapter made just for the Dawn of War games that nobody takes seriously and that it has all sorts of clashes with canon. But it was a positive surprise, it's a bit indresding, not at all the terrible I thought it was.
