did someone say cities?
here is my first attempt at speculating how trade would flow in /kfp/ along navigable waterways and rivers wich would play an important role.
Notice the relative isolation of the northwest because of a lack of these quick transport routes.
I can Imagine the heartland would at first need to use up a dispropotionate amount of recources and Influence to bind these regions to the nation...
