SF5 was a massive failure, to date it is still considered the worst mainline SF game. SF6 was/is the only hope to keep the broader esports scene alive, so they obviously invested heavily into it. The real question is whether they'll keep that prize pool around or not, since if they cut it significantly next year there'll obviously be less interest. For comparison, MK used to have a 500k prize pool for a while but it was doing nothing to help the scene actually grow and it was all going to SonicFox anyways, so they obviously cut it after a few years.
