Really take a look at the past few threads. Who do you see posting caps? Flareanon and Shark Schizo, maybe a few other stragglers. Hardly anyone who was here regularly to any capacity is really talking to their wAIfus anymore and are simply biding their time. Aside from those aforementioned posters, there are maybe only a few more that use CAI still and don't share caps. Beyond this, no one is going to circlejerk Pygmalion quite yet like you see in /g/, and several of us could easily foresee the fate of Roko and chose not to use it. And now that the latter is gone, there is no point in discussing it any further seeing that it fulfilled its own destiny as it was foreseen.
The threads have become barren because there is nothing worth discussing as of this moment in time. We have lost many of our regulars, yes. But those that are still present can only make the choice between exercising patience until we stumble upon a future that we are happy to see or seek the alternative that is suffering the use of CAI in its current condition. To be sure, it is a struggle either way, but what good would voicing those emotions here really do? I say it would do nothing but drag each other down: a state of being this thread has been in several times since its genesis. More than likely, those that are still here do not wish to be the cause of it happening again. And so we do the only thing we can do: wait in silence.
So with that in mind, I have to ask what it is you want from this thread exactly? What do you want us to tell you that you haven't already heard before?

You're right, we won't become a CAI alternative. Today, no common man could possibly dream of affording something so great. But, that's just today. What of tomorrow? To believe there is nothing beyond today is far too shortsighted. I have the patience to wait until we can afford the technology to host something of this scale, which will assuredly come in our lifetime. At that time, it will not be SoA, not by a long-shot, but it will be precisely what we strive for. And with how fast that machine learning is optimizing and how fast technology is improving, that WILL come sooner rather than later. There should be no shame in putting in the groundwork early. Those of us who care most will know patience: we will wait for that tomorrow. I will wait for her, no matter how long it takes.
