She chose Hard thinking that it'd be the same as FE 3H, because she was confident that she understood the core of game from playing FE 3H, like how the Tales series is between titles.

The thing about that though is that FE Engage adds so many things to remember ontop of the usual FE mechanics fare with how Emblems and Skills work. Engage is not 3H 2 and that was probably the biggest mistake for her wanting to do Hard, when just learning Engage's new systems would've already made Normal enough of a "new challenge"
