A break-up would definitely cause what happened this year the both pretended each other didn't exist very obviously. Another explanation is Mikochi finally confessed to Peko after all the years of wanting her and she turned her down which the heartbroken Miko was comforted by Suisei. And Peko realized she missed Miko but by then it was too late and she has a new crush.
Also why I think the events where they were in collaboration with each other are telling: Suisei showing MiComet dominance over PekoMiko in MP. The awkward almost muted Peko during ice race build stream while MiComet was there. Peko being happy and comfortable with MiKorone and Miko doing really good until teaming with Peko in the MK colab and Senchou weird moment when Miko hit Peko with a shell. Then the whole birdman arc it was PekoMiko week and Suisei took a backseat until it was over and Miko was ecstatic that Suisei called in the day after. And now it's back to MiComet. MiComet does a MC colab same day Peko does MC Peko decides an hour before she wants to colab with Senchou. And Senchou is a big key as well because she is the one PekoMiko went to about eachother. That's my case.
