It's not a completely stupid point, because where is the cut-off?
Someone made the argument that not mentioning your boyfriend is lying/hiding it since it's part of your daily life and not something private (debatable). But then where is the limit, your sex life (casual hook ups or with lover) is also an important part of your daily life and affect your mood and many other things. It's not like friends never talk about their sex life either.
So avoiding the topic is hiding your sex life.

It shows it's not such a clear cut situation and that not mentioning elements of your private life isn't the same as "hiding/lying", it even depends on cultures.
