Total war boomer here, rome/medieval 2 were massively mid, the reason they were liked was because they were a graphic improvement. But in hindsight they are like 3/10 games

Original 2d medieval tw had better gameplay. Empire was poop. Shogun 2 was the first good 3d total war. Rome 2 sucked, Atiila was much better. Warhammer is onions. Three Kingdoms is the best new total war by far, its genuinely difficult and has good diplomacy although the battle are sort of lackluster. Troy after the latest patch is decent.
