I set vae on 0 because... it was the default. I didnt even look at it, until people asked what my vae settings were.
for your catboxes, I actually think that the no vae ones look better, but should always work towards what you yourself find aesthetically pleasing and not try to copy a "style", so if you think it's better with vae then go for it
