this is probably a dumb question but is it true islands just float out in the middle of the ocean and are only kept in place by the earths rotation because i was arguing with my friend and he said that there are hundreds of miles of mountains under the ocean that cause the island but i told him that was stupid and they just floated because im pretty sure thats the definition of an island
