Yeah, personally I've always found that face streamers either have to overexaggerate their reactions, which lands them in an uncanny valley, or they play it normal, which is just boring. So everyone I've watched has been a disembodied voice, but adding an avatar there allows almost everything (and also more as >>5388340 already pointed out) that a face streamer can do. After all, I've been conditioned ever since childhood to treat overreactions as normal for cartoon characters. Nor is there any reason I'd have to develop some kind of obsession about my favourite cartoon character any more than my favourite streamer, I never understood /a/'s waifufaggotry in the first place.
