i like the faux hyper-realism aesthetic they're going for, it's a good way of trying to match the detail of the manga and why i'm excited to see how they adapt the real surreal stuff. what i really appreciate is all the effort being put into tiny expressive details for the quieter moments of character intimacy, like that whole anime original sequence of aki going through his morning routine. it shows that enough people involved with the production understand what makes the series more than funny dommy mommy and man who is chainsaw.
