And you can see the legacy of Nijisanji's standard in the Holos themselves. Every Holo in Gen 0 and Gen 1 collabs or has collabed with males before, I believe. Maybe everyone pictured has done a male collab before when Hololive was smaller. There was no dividing line, just like Nijisanji has no dividing line. Point here is there was no female-male collab taboo.
At this point, Holostars was still not a thing. They made their debuts around the same time as Gen 3. I don't know why Yagoo separated them at this stage rather than just following Niji's lead. Maybe it was just a formality and it was never intended to be a strict dividing line between the girls and the boys like it is today. But Stars got introduced because it was the natural thing to do. Nijisanji showed there was a demand, and there was no taboo about mixed collabs.
Obviously he was looking for his own Toya, his own Kuzuha. He was looking for the boys SENPAITACHI played with in 2019. And most recently, to find his Luxiem. Failing to achieve so year after year, the community was begging him to give the Stars more support back then. And here we are.
