Too many people, too scarce human relationships (talking to a cashier doesn't count). Dehumanization of the self and of others. Societal pressure about "what is expected" of someone and the constant fear, anger and anxiety that comes with trying to climb the corporate ladder. Perfect breeding ground for mental health problems from girls like Pekora who fear strangers to sociopaths who refuse or are incapable of feeling empathy or remorse. Who knows maybe if I lived in a 14 million megalopolis I might also feel a little misanthropic.
The west has been heading there for a while too. We are just not at their level YET.
