It’s 12:00AM. The monitor shines bright in front of you. Your dreary eyes watching it with no interest as you click away at emails, responding to them with the cookie cutter responses provided by your superiors. This is the 4th day working overtime in a row. When you signed up to Hololive, you didn’t expect to become an underpaid and overworked pencil pusher but at least you get look and talk to really good girls right? You heave a sigh and let your head hang low, breaking eye contact with monitor for the first time in a few hours. “Hey hey what do you want to after you finish work?” You give eyes a good rub. “Oh maybe we should eat something?” Ugh stop slacking. You slap your face in an attempt to wake yourself. The faster you get this done, the faster you can go home. “Oooh lets go get yakiniku, I love yakiniku. Do you?” Once again you raise your head to face the soul sucking screen, having renewed determination to finish your work, however that didn’t last for long as you feel a pair small hands around face, they force you to look right of the screen.

Illuminated by the monitor, Hololive’s first generation idol, Natsuiro Matsuri sits beside you in all her glory. She pouts “Hmph Anon you should listen to me when I’m talking!” You stifle an awkward laugh. You tried ignore her all this time but she’s forced your hand.

“Matsuri can you please be quiet when I’m working. I can’t focus with you talking to me.” “Ehhhh, but all you’re doing is copying and pasting slightly different messages. That doesn’t require that much focus right? You can still talk to Matsuri.” She’s right. A task this mundane and boring shouldn’t require any focus at all normally but you’re completely exhausted so any task is a challenge. “When you’re as tired as me, just staying awake requires a lot of focus, let alone having to read and type as well.” She is still pouting “Huh fine! I’ll leave you alone!” She spins her chair to have her back towards you but her face to side so you can still see the cute pout. She then spins around again to face you, this time with a full bright smile on her face “But it’s okay! I’ll wait for you forever!”

Even in your delirious state, you can still admire how adorable Matsuri really is. You can’t help but crack a smile of your own and before you know it you’re ruffling her hair. It’s soft and silky. “Thanks buddy, that means a lot me” You can see a faint blush on those plush cheeks of hers and she lets out a cute giggle “Ehehehe.” God how can one girl be so goddamn precious.

Reluctantly you take your hand back and place back on the keyboard, you can see she is slightly saddened by the loss of petting. “I’ll try to finish up as soon as possible okay?” “Okay! But first I need go to the restroom!” And so she darts off to relive herself. She’s a handful for sure but a lovable handful. It’s times like these you’re glad you’re working at Hololive.

Matsuri always keeps you company when you have to work late into the night. At first you thought she likes you but that thought faded fast as you probably don’t have any time for romance with all this work to do. Besides she’s an idol and you’re a clerical worker. Why would she have any interest in you? You shake your head. Don’t get distracted now, just focus on the work. Just one last thing is that you really appreciate Matsuri for keeping you company during these nights. It would be terribly lonely if she wasn’t here even if she makes a lot of noise and is terribly distracting.

Slaving away at the desk you realise it’s been 10 minutes since Matsuri went to bathroom. Hopefully she’s alright, it doesn’t take that long for girls to go to the restroom right? “I’m back!” Just as you were thinking of her, she pops up. She rushes over to the seat beside you. Her face is incredibly flushed almost as if she were suffering from a fever, her breath is ragged and she’s also really fidgety. “Matsuri are you alright? Did something happen in the bathroom because you don’t look too well.” You question her worriedly. She evades eye contact and looks towards the ground. Her face gets even redder. You didn’t know someone could blush this hard. “Yeah yeah I’m fine! Thank you for worrying. Anyway I brought you something. You said you were sleepy right? So I got you a special drink!”
