Have you read Lookism? It explores the cutthroat beauty standards of Korea in a very in depth and nuanced way. I like how most of the antagonists aren't vilified because everyone's a victim of Korea's beauty culture. It derails into a gang drama later but for the most part the story's really compelling and ripe with social commentary!

Hey I just watched it too. I think the boredom aspect in the beginning elevated the terrifying parts because you let your guard down, anything happening feels terrifying.
Could've done without the jump-scares though. You should cheek out Funny Games, that movie is all build up with no payoff, all to intentionally create a uncomfortable watch
