TL;DR Unicorns and Keemstars form two sides of the same coin and their ultimate goal control over entertainers as a whole, but they will ultimately fail to achieve that, even in cases where they did have an influence because they fail to understand that people ultimately have agency to do what they want and they're trying to control forces that they have control over.

Unicorns are mostly a personification, or a scapegoat if you will, that people use as an excuse to support whatever they want to believe, whether they want to continue to keep supporting the purity aspect or they want to think they're saving the people they think are being oppressed by various factors or something to try to explain "bad numbers" or something to just shit on the girls for (you)s.

In other words they say less about unicorns themselves but more about the people talking about them. It's not like they don't exist, but especially these days the stereotypical unicorn that people fear/praise are just your typical shitter that doesn't even pay/watch streams whose oshi is literally /vt/ or the doxxcords.

What is very, very interesting is that I rarely see brought up is the concept of privacy. What the unicorns, /vt/sisters, and the Keemstars have in common is that they are very, very interested in the private lives of idols/entertainers/content creators/etc. Sure the Keemstars (especially forma de feminist types) may proclaim they are all about the privacy of them, but are they really? We all know the tried and true story of the person that was famous for slamming down some racist on the internet... only for the very same people cheering them on to turn their backs on them when they find out something about them unsavory.

What these three groups ultimately desire is control. They desire control to the point where they will make any excuse to think that they're in control, even when the outcome is completely the opposite of what they claimed would happen. And to a certain extent THEY can have an influence. But luckily in most cases they don't have that much control. In rare cases it can happen sadly, like with Coco. And yes, I'm aware Coco's enemies weren't unicorns, but their goal were one and the same. BUT--and I do very mean a huge but--Coco's impact on vtubing has been massive and there's nothing her enemies can do to change it back. What's worse for them is that it was nothing more than a pyrrhic victory. And stick with me here, that isn't going to be the fate of unicorns, but also the /vt/sisters and the Feminist Keemstars who think they are "saving the women" from "patriarchal standards" who fail to realize that the women that got into this entire industry understood from the start.

In the end, they're only a danger when they decide to do something actually unlawful and they know if they try anything they'd be fuck and their days of LARPing will be over. Not that there won't be schizos trying, but they will most likely get killed before they ever get close to succeeding.
