Audiences very often don't really know what they want until they see it.
Doing a sports festival or summer festival in minecraft simply "sounded fun" to the holos involved in creating it, hence why they were made.
Keeping your own fanbase is good and all, but any media company that's as big as Cover would definitely try to expand their mindshare across as many spaces as they can.
Laplus is a zoomer and a retard in this instance but it's not like other holos can straight up tell her she's wrong either - since no one from holo has actually tried that strategy.

And in a way I would say this was a long time coming, since even during her earliest streams Laplus had said that her main activities would involve edited videos. But she was new at the time and so just went with what her audience wanted at the time - which was live streams.
Might be too late for her to break away from it now after 2 years of doing the same shit, but it's a good experiment at least.

Even if the numbers are reduced to a certain extent, I think she'd call it a success if it gave her enough to continue making a living with - and Cover obviously won't care as long as her merch keeps selling.
It'll only be a question of whether Laplus herself will be satisfied with having lower numbers and just doing what she likes - or whether she'll come back and do the stuff she supposedly dislikes purely for bigger numbers.
