Team Fortress 2 has appeal because the players have stake in the game, through private servers, the creation of custom maps and cosmetics. Source games in general have long life spans because of each games modularity. (look at Garrys Mod) These games have soul because the playerbase perpetuates itself. League of Legions is a trash moba for trannies and koreans, Riot doesn't even trust it's community to not say mean words in chat, meanwhile, I can own and maintain my own TF2 server and set the rules and maintain my own community within it. Team Fortress 2 is a fun game by itself, but the community is what keeps it alive. There are tons of fun games that are dead games, but Source games stay golden.
