Keep VODs scarce on your VOD channel. Sometimes as a viewer there are so many options you spend what little free time you have browsing instead of watching. Ending up with a playlist you'll never watch.
Make your videos membership only except for one, or two free videos for free viewers to easily pick to watch.
Rotate the free videos, so they are always fresh, but keep only one free video available at a time to generate artificial scarcity for viewers who have trouble deciding what to watch in times of abundance.
