I suspect it's quite easy to reach fairly high on small country charts (hence the option to hide them) with just a dozen fans, since I've noticed that you can get to top 50 in Billboard Japan's weekly digital sales ranking with just 500-600 sales outside of the absolute busiest weeks. That said, in my experience iTunes tends to predict the next day's Oricon rankings quite well, it's usually +/-1 rank if it does better/worse on Mora, and only on the absolute slowest days can you get to the top3 of the digital daily ranking with under 1000 units sold.
