I remember some cheap knock off LEGO stuff when I was younger. Though, while I haven't tried any nonLEGO stuff myself yet, /toy/'s /pbbg/ thread still has Cobi as a top brand. Might not have the QC of the LEGO Group (which have had their own slew of problems), but I can't imagine it being that bad.

I will say that for the second stream I had LEGO set I built while watching. It was about 80 pieces of so greater than Pippa's, but the process was just so smooth. Even being 30 minutes late for a part 2 stream, I finished before she did. To be fair though, this set had more colorful parts. Minus a few hiccups, LEGO designers have a good grasp on not just designing models but also doing so in such a way that the building experience can be fun and hassle free. Maybe that alone will make Pippa's experience with an actual LEGO set better. Who knows. I honestly could hardly see shit from the tiny phone screen I used to watch her last night. I almost feel tempted to buy the u-boat myself to try it to understand what happened outside Pippa just being a newbie clutz. Can't even dog on her for being a woman here, because there are plenty of adult female LEGO fans.
