Never take Japanese compliments at face value. Especially when you were given Jouzu card by them. Tis the reason I cringe and clench my asshole so hard every time Moona Jouzu'd HoloJP's English.
Truth bomb aside, able to count to 20 is *technically* an improvement. Now that she has picked up some books to start learning Nihongo again, the question that needs to be answered is : Was that a genuine act of willingness to learn or normal case of "Hey guys check my Twitter/IG/YT post ! Bought some books that I'll never read !" kind of thing.
Only time will tell. Personally hoping for the best.
