Shitposts and blatant mistruths have long been an aspect of 4chan culture. For years, this has been the key method of gatekeeping tourists. Newfags buy into the retarded posts, newfags repeat them, regulars laugh.
This strategy tends to fail on this newfag board, thanks to all the cross-contamination of different fanbases. Typically, there should be no harm done when one retard believes a retarded rrat, but when a rrat is close to truth it becomes a problem. Multiple anons coming together to shit on such a rrat exposes to lurkers that the rrat isn't to be taken seriously, but when left to its own devices it will fester.
This thread has an unfortunate tendency to believe it can simply not reply to anything it doesn't like, which is the reason blatant lies about the branch can proliferate here. By the time anyone bothers to correct something, it's a wasted effort because most of the board already believes the lie.
