I shotgun out as much of my story as I can, if I don't get it down fast then I lose interest for sure, then if I have to take a break I can have the maximum amount of clay to work with in order to finish up.
Even then it's up to time and mood, I have a bunch of half-finished works and I just went on a purge getting rid of 8 or 9 stories that I absolutely wasn't going to finish.
