Ah, thank you. very much. I wish I had a satisfying answer for that. There's not really a process involved. It's just stuff I think would be cool to see in a story or things I visualize while working/walking around and opt to put in the thought cabinet and obsess over until I get the chance to write. This one was in my head since last November and was being thought about in tandem with the last chapter, but a scene I wanted to happen in this one would've required chapter six to have happened first, so it did. I guess it's making characters endearing alongside an interesting world? I'm not really sure what's 'engaging' about my own writing, but that's because it's not something I've experienced as a reader outside of reviewing.
