Kinda weird how no vtuber has released doujinshi, seems like a slam dunk for a bigger vtuber. Like lets say you want to release an 80 page doujinshi
it would cost about 8k to hire someone to make it i.e. do the story and draw it.
Printing and shipping 500 of them to your physical location costs about 2.5 dollars per doujin, so now you are about 10k in the hole so selling them for 20 dollars a pop would make you break even. So this kind of operation would only be profitable (at a nice tidy 80% ish profit) if you drew it on your own.
Printing and shipping 2000 of them to your physical location costs about 1.8 dollars per doujin so now you are about 11.5k in the hole. Selling them at a premium price (in comparison to other manga) at 20 dollars a pop would make a tidy profit of like 30k. (before labour that has to be put in into shipping them to customers). Seems kinda nice with a nice 75% profit but I wonder if the vtubers that can actually sell 2k doujinshi have better shit to sell that doesnt require them to physical mail out 2k orders. Maybe there is a print on demand option and shipping it directly to customers but I guess those kinds of services uses lower quality stuff which would be not that optimal for some premium merch. So I guess its not that weird that they havent released doujinshi, the easiest way would be to sell it at cons so you dont have to fucking mail out 2k packages but there is no chance that a non hololive vtuber would sell 2k doujins on a fucking con
