Since I'll be making a king cake instead I can't really shape it like a heart, however what I can do is draw a small one with a knife on the puff pastry before baking it.

I think that's the fun part of baking actually, getting to master a recipe and adjusting it every time you try your hand at it is really rewarding, with your adjustments it always end up feeling like you developed your own in a way.
The iterative aspect of this process is what I really enjoy... It's not a big deal to fail, as long as you take not and try to improve on it.
