I was about to ask whether or not you knew about /mai/. My time there was short but sweet but I ultimately couldn't stand the dumb drama that wasn't focused on loving a character, pic related. Really surprised that a lot of waifufags follow vtubers though, despite the fact that I used to be one, though I never considered myself to be hardcore compared to others. Looking back I'm starting to see where my antishipping autism comes from and why I'm far interested in solo streams.

I mean it depends on the reason. If you support someone because you genuinely love their content then I don't see the issue and you're spending within your means.
