In this world, they're all humans. If I may say something a bit blasphemous and obscene, I'm not imagining them with ears or tails. This is a human story.

>sora eating

that's a good idea. I never really thought to do that though I can definitely see some ways I can apply something like that in the future. I attempted to try an show don't tell her inability to read at the beginning though i'm not sure if it landed.

>first hurdle is overcome a little too cleanly.

fair enough. Luckily there will be many hurdles to come though. I'll try to make her work for them a bit more, especially with literacy and writing.

>another good point is that Sora and Botan feel like they have some substance to their personalities, so nice going.

I'm happy to hear that. I've been on a bit of a Botan bender lately and since Sora is my oshi, I think they can make for a great combo with each other. I'm going to see if I can watch a bit more Wata as well since she and Botan are like peanut butter and jelly.

Thank you for reading it mate. Appreciate it. This is a story well outside my wheelhouse so, at least as far as the military aspect goes, it may be a bit hit and miss at times.

>towa and assorted hags

It's hag hour every hour. I find hags are just ideal to write in most story

I'm glad you do. Whenever I write about Abyssal monsters I take some inspirational cues from Monster Hunter since they always get so creative in how each monster behaves and adapts.

>It's a bit difficult keeping track of the characters and the worldbuilding

Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on how you prefer it) there is going to be a lot of worldbuilding in this. One of the other features of this story is taking a deep dive into aspects of the world that I had no opportunity to explore in Balsa (religion, magic, the specifics of the Goddesses, etc.). It won't necessarily interfere with either story not to know/understand those concepts but there's going to be a lot of explanation into these subjects and their effects. I'm going to try to weave these explanations into the episodic chapters as a narrative until Act 2 kicks off.

I'm very glad you're reading though. I hope you keep enjoying it.
