I agree with the "kobe jump" being a bullshit jump for a beginner since it is the first jump in the game that only allows one particular jump. There are only a few in the base game that requires you to do that. Since other jumps give you a leniency of two types of jumps.
In terms of screen transitions, jumping up, seeing the next jump and doing a full jump works all the time or restricts to a type of jump(s) in the base game besides one jump before the checkpoint.
Again, it's a matter of taste, I had no patience for GOI and couldn't beat it but JK was fun.
